The annual Wildflower Show of the Los Angeles / Santa Monica Mountains chapter of the California Native Plant Society (CNPS) is scheduled for April 13, 2019 at the Sepulveda Garden Center in conjunction with a simultaneous Native Plant Celebration & Symposium, plant and book sale. The Symposium will feature speakers throughout the day. Plants for sale will be available courtesy of our Symposium partner, the Theodore Payne Foundation. We welcome California native wildflower cuttings from your home gardens.

The Symposium will feature the following speakers:
10 – 11:30 am How Native Can the Garden Get?  Embracing Localism in the Landscape by Tim Becker.
With so many native species to choose from, where does the native plant gardener begin? Find out how planting locally native species inspires beauty in the garden and adds resilience to you landscape.

Noon – 1:30 pm Wild Yards Project: The New Wilderness Begins at Home by David Newsom
The Project is a collaboration of storytellers and native plant professionals working together to inspire people across the country to transform their yards into vibrant, beneficial, native-plant habitat.

2 – 3:30 pm New Calflora Tools for CNPS Users: Mapping & Surveying Enhancements by Cynthia Powell
Join Calflora’s Executive Director Cynthia Powell to learn about several exciting new Calflora tools. Calflora’s plant database hosts over 2.5 million plant occurrences, some of which come directly from our CNPS LA/SMM Chapter members. Cynthia will go over Calflora’s new plant photo project, planting guide, population monitoring tools, and email alerts.

We welcome California native wildflower cuttings from your gardens for display in the wildflower show. Contact Snowdy Dodson at snowdy.dodson@csun.edu or at 818-782-9346 for details. Please deliver your cuttings to the Sepulveda Garden Center for set up on the morning of Friday, April 12.
