Flamingo fallout | Riders on the Storm

Speaking of storm-blown birds — as we were recently — the east coast from Florida to Virginia — even Ohio — was treated to a Flamboyance of Flamingos during their recent hurricane, which may still be blowing its way north as I write, perhaps still pushing flamingos, just like the ones shown below, ever northward.

Hurricane Idalia is being credited with delivering a flamingo-palooza to the Eastern United States this week. The iconic, pink plumaged birds first started showing up all over Florida, on both coasts and the northern Gulf Coast as Hurricane Idalia passed. By Saturday however, three days after landfall, flamingo sightings had been reported in Alabama, South and North Carolina, Ohio, Tennessee and Virginia.

Notice how they all face left. If they face right, it’s something else, not a true flamingo like these.
