Calif. Bird Festivals

Bird festivals are fun. You meet other birders, visit new places, see their regular birds plus whatever rarities have dropped in, hear interesting presentations and discussions, admire – possibly buy – beautiful bird paintings and carvings, eat lunch and dinner with others, support their local economy and much more, not far from home. Make reservations in advance.  Events with dates marked with an asterisk (*) are probable, but not finalized.         [Last updated 7/9-19]

Most of these trips are listed on Nature Ali’s website (still under construction 7/9/19).
Bird Watcher’s Digest’s USA-wide Bird Festival Finder.
National Wildlife Refuge System’s USA-wide Super Bird Fest page.
Cornell Lab of Ornithology’s world-wide Bird Festivals & Events page includes a map; most events are in the USA.
Please email us updates about your festival.

Thought you might want to let folks know about our 2nd Annual San Francisco Bay Osprey Days, June 27-29, 2014 with boat trips, luncheon scientific presentations, guided car and walking outings to see nesting osprey up close, sometimes overlooking their nests, a rare treat and of course “fish tacos” for lunch. Mostly free. Headquartered at Mare Island Shoreline Heritage Preserve Mare Island, Vallejo, CA. 707-249-9633

Point Reyes and Arcata look good for spring in California. The godwit days trips are filling up already and we just want to let folks know we have a new web page. Still godwitdays but now .org, no longer .com

    So check out
