Voices: Barred Owl | Cornell Lab of Ornithology

There are few sounds in nature as raucous as the calls of Barred Owls. Listen as The Cornell Lab’s Laura Erickson sets the scene.
A film from the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. If no film or link appears in this email, go to the blog to view it by clicking on the blog title above. If the film stops & starts in an annoying manner, press pause (lower left double bars ||) to let it buffer and get ahead of you. The Lab is a member-supported organization; they welcome your membership and support. [Chuck Almdale]

a pair of titmouse birds have now left the nesting box – with one egg behind–6 weeks ago. Do we clean the box, with what, each season?
Thx, Kristie

Sorry for the delay. Duty called.
I don’t have any nest boxes so am no expert on this, but I googled “cleaning bird nest boxes” and found many suggestions. These look good.
This friendly British chap gives step-by-step instructions in 5 minutes. Great advice! Gloves, bucket of hot water, scraper. No harsh (potentially lethal) chemicals, and a box (with nest cam) removable from it’s perch.)
