The field trip for 8:30 am Saturday 12 September, scheduled to go to Lower Sycamore Canyon, Mugu Rock and Mugu marsh has been canceled. There will be no replacement. We hope no one is inconvenienced.

I was looking forward to doing this walk in Sycamore Cyn, but there was no way to read about the walk, or show interest in going. It was the only walk on the schedule to have no links attached. If you are canceling because you saw no interest, that is why.

As the trip is not all that far from Santa Monica, the leader would probably have gone even if no one inquired as many who come never bother to alert us.
It’s a nice canyon and even the area around the parking lot and camp sites is quite good for birds, especially at the bridge over the creek by the bathroom near the highway where we usually spend 15-30 minutes. Once you get more than about 1/2 mile upcanyon, you have to cross the creek twice and it will likely have water in it from now until next summer, or longer, meaning you’ll have to take off your footwear, walk in wet boots thereafter, or wear crocs.
